AIKEN – Mr. Jed Charles Alexander, Jr., 91, beloved husband of Penelope “Penny” Alexander, died Saturday, September 23, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 5, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Brian Coulter officiating, followed by US Navy honors. The family will then receive friends in the church fellowship hall. Mr. Alexander was born in Dublin, GA, a son of the late Jed and Evelyn Cowart Alexander. He served in the United States Navy during WWII, retired as a Foreman in the Reactor Department for E.I. DuPont (Savannah River Plant), was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was a former deacon, and was in the Toastmasters of Aiken. He also coached little league baseball for Aiken Sporting Goods for 13 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Michael (Becky) Alexander, David (Janet) Alexander, Patrick (Judy) Alexander, all of Aiken; two grandchildren, Sara and Michael Alexander; a great grandchild, Amaya Alexander. He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Alexander, and his brother, Robert J. Alexander.
