Jeanne Wiland Mayenschein, 80, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
Jeanne was born in Morgantown, WV, daughter of the late Frank O. Wiland, Jr. and Mary Hartley Wiland. Jeanne moved to Aiken with her family in 1952. She was a 1963 graduate of Aiken High. She married Jack Mayenschein, and they had two children. She was a devoted wife of 48 years. She loved her children and supported them in all of their activities and interests. She never missed a football game or volleyball match. She worked as a bookkeeper for several employers, and she retired from Tri-Development Center of Aiken County. She loved the Tri-Development residents and volunteered regularly to assist with their activities. She and Jack enjoyed chaperoning the formal dances. Jeanne also enjoyed driving the residents to camp every summer. Her home was always a welcome haven for her grandchildren. She loved having them there. She always had plenty of snacks and good food to spoil them with. In addition to her family, she loved playing bridge and spending time with her friends at Edisto beach. She and Jack loved to host the Aiken High School reunion parties and enjoyed the company of many long-time friends. She loved her flowers and plants. It seemed as if she could put a stick in the ground and grow something beautiful. She always kept hummingbird feeders and loved to watch them from her patio. She was a resident of Trinity Lutheran home for the last 5 years, and the family would like to thank all of the staff for their dedication to her care.
Jeanne is survived by her daughter Traci (David) Wilkerson, North Augusta, SC; her son John Douglas (Jan) Mayenschein, Trenton, SC; grandchildren Chandler (Victoria) Mayenschein, Blake Mayenschein, Brent (Amber) Smith, Morghan (Allen) Walls and Bryce Wilkerson; great grandchildren, Dawson Smith, J. D. Mayenschein and Carter Walls; sister Barbara Wiland; brothers Kenneth (Mimi) Wiland and Michael Wiland.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John D. “Jack” Mayenschein.
