Jay Phillip Conniff, a respected consulting engineer and cherished family man, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, in Aiken, South Carolina. Born on May 22, 1941, in Richmond, Indiana, Jay’s life was marked by dedication, both to his profession and to the people he loved.

Jay’s academic journey began at the esteemed Rose Hulman Institute of Technology, where he earned his undergraduate degree, laying a strong foundation for a successful career in engineering. He further advanced his expertise by obtaining a master’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, demonstrating his commitment to excellence and lifelong learning.

In 2008, after many years residing in St. Louis, Missouri, Jay made Aiken his home. He was a devoted communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jay was a man of vibrant interests. An avid golfer and bridge player, he found joy and camaraderie in these pursuits. His passion for sports was well known among family and friends.

Jay is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Carolyn Bossman Conniff, with whom he shared a deep and enduring partnership. Together, they raised a loving family, including four children: two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura Camper and Mark of Carrollton, GA, and Beverly Anstine and Douglas of Discovery Bay, CA; as well as two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel Conniff and Nancy of Florissant, MO, and Aaron Conniff and Tiffany of Fairfield, CA.

His legacy extends to nine grandchildren: Jonathon Camper, Phillip Camper, Nicholas Camper, Ariana Camper, Jacqueline Anstine, Colette Anstine Morias and her husband Higor, Kennedy Conniff, and Sebastian Conniff. Jay’s great-grandson, Mathias Morias, also held a special place in his heart.

Jay is further remembered by his two brothers, David Conniff of Niceville, FL, and Jeffrey Conniff (Cheri) of Richmond, IN.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, James Phillip Conniff and Marjorie Dresser Conniff.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated in Old St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church on Park Avenue in Aiken SC at a day and time to be announced..
