James J. Undertilo

JAMES JOSEPH “JOE” UNDERTILO, 60, beloved husband of Marie Baughman Undertilo, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Joe was a son of the late John and Marian Jacobs Undertilo.  He lived most his life in Aiken and worked in construction at Savannah River Site.  Then he became an estimator and project manager with Edgefield Construction.   He returned to SRS and retired as an estimator.  Joe loved working with his hands and was a woodworker.  He was very family oriented and enjoyed family gatherings, especially holidays with extended family.

Surviving are his wife, Marie; two daughters, Christine Undertilo Allen (Mike), Aiken, Whitney Undertilo Wingard (Justin), New Ellenton; two grandchildren, Kalila Marie and Carter Jace Wingard; biological brothers and sisters, Arney, Mark, Dawn, Wade and Joan.

Joe was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Jay Undertilo and Marian Jacobs Undertilo and his biological mother, Delores Thielsen.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, August 1^st from 1 until 2 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be at 2 o’clock in the funeral home chapel with The Rev. Phillip Lee officiating.
