Jim Szathmary, of Aiken, South Carolina, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on July 11, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Nick Szathmary and Helen Varga, Jim lived a long life full of love and dedication to his family and friends.
After graduating from John Adams High School, Jim entered the U.S. Army before beginning his career as an automotive engineer and, later, small business owner and entrepreneur. His working career spanned 40 years from jobs at the White Motors Company to Delaware Fabricating.
Fluent in Hungarian, Jim’s unique passion and hobby was building model clipper ships from the 18th and 19th century, along with all things car-related – especially classic cars from the 1950’s and 1960’s.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years and childhood sweetheart, Raemary, along with his children, Nancy (Brian) and Dave, who they raised in Shaker Heights and Hudson, Ohio. Jim's legacy will live on through the countless memories he created, cars he repaired and the love he shared.
