James C. "Buddy" Quattlebaum

July 8, 1936 — September 15, 2021

AIKEN, SC - James C. "Buddy" Quattlebaum, age 85, born on July 8, 1936, died on September 15, 2021.
 
Mr. Quattlebaum attended Center Elementary school, graduating in 1954 from Aiken High School. He then attended Augusta Junior College. He also served in the National Guard.
 
He professed his faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and joined Shiloh Baptist Church where he was a dedicated church member. He was the church organist for 65 years, choir member, and taught Training Union. He loved his church family. He loved music, board games, watching sports, and spending time with his family.
 
He was employed as an estimator for 14 years at Babcock & Wilcox in Augusta, GA.  He then joined his father’s family business, Quattlebaum Contractors, Inc. in Aiken, SC, in the early 1970’s and worked there until his retirement.
 
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Yonce Quattlebaum.
 
He had three daughters, Pam Fulmer (Rocky), Debbie Quattlebaum, and Julie Corbett (Jimmy), all of Aiken, S.C. Also, surviving are five grandchildren, Jason Fulmer (Jennifer), Trent Fulmer (Miranda), Jordyn Sellers (Lawson), Jared Corbett, and Jace Corbett. He had four great-grandchildren, Eli Fulmer, Emersyn Fulmer, Cameron Fulmer, and Judson Fulmer.
 
He was preceded in death by Annie Taylor Quattlebaum (mother), R. H. (Harold) Quattlebaum (father), and Robert H. (Bob) Quattlebaum, Jr. (brother).
 
The funeral will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Family Life Center with The Rev. Dr. Chris Masters officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Shellhouse Funeral Home, 924 Hayne Ave.
 
Pallbearers will be Rocky Fulmer, Jason Fulmer, Trent Fulmer, Jimmy Corbett, Jared Corbett, Jace Corbett, and Lawson Sellers.
 
Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at Shiloh Baptist Church, 3925 Shiloh Church Rd., Aiken, SC  29805.
 
His life will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
