James Loether Williamson passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, at Cumberland Village in Aiken, South Carolina. Born on May 24, 1941, in Culver City, California, his life spanned eighty-five years. He was the son of the late James S. and Martha Loether Williamson.
James answered the call to serve his country in the U.S. Navy, serving for five years with honor and distinction.
Following his military service, James embarked on a successful career in mechanical engineering. He retired from United Technologies in Sunnyvale, California.
James is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley Ann Ferguson Williamson, who stood by his side 57 years; his two daughters, Denise Coe (son-in-law, John Scott Coe), Aiken, SC and Diane Aviles, Magalina, CA. Also surviving are four grandchildren
A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday afternoon, July 10, 2026, at 1 o’clock at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, located at 4170 Percival Rd., Columbia, SC 29229.
