James Hirsch

AIKEN, SC - James “Jim” William Hirsch died July 27th, 2018 in Aiken, South Carolina.

He was born in Carson City, Nevada on October 10th, 1942, to parents Charles William “Bill” and Adele Joyce Hirsch. Jim grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Perry, New York. A graduate of Cornell University in 1964, Jim served three years in the United States Army. He earned an MBA from George Washington University in 1973. Jim worked for American Cyanamid and then Cytec Industries from 1967 to 1999. He lived in Wyckoff, New Jersey during most of his working years, and retired to South Carolina in 1999.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Deborah Scott Hirsch. He is survived by his daughters Amanda Reed (Sam) and Sarah Espanol (Paul), brother Philip Hirsch (Linda), sister Mary Hirsch, and grandsons Ruben and Oscar Espanol. Jim had many cousins in Las Vegas, friends in the New York City area, and loved to spend time with them all.  

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on October 20^th at the Cornell Club in New York City at 6 E. 44^th St. from 12:30 to 1:30, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the UNCF or collegefund.org, or any other organization that supports education.
