Jack J. Parrish, Jr., born on September 10, 1944, in Bamberg, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his son Justin’s home in Aiken, SC, Saturday afternoon, August 8, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. His life spanned eighty-one remarkable years marked by dedication to family, service to his country, and a deep connection to the land he cherished.

Born to Jack J., Sr. and Carrie Starr Free Parrish, Jack grew up in Bamberg, where he formed the foundation for the work ethic and values that would shape his life. After completing his schooling, he answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Army. During his time in the military, Jack was stationed in the Panama Canal, an experience that imbued him with a profound sense of discipline and commitment.

Upon returning home, Jack built a meaningful career as an electrician with South Carolina Electric & Gas. Over twenty-two years, he became known for his skill, reliability, and steadfast work until retiring due to disability.

Retirement was not the end, but rather the beginning of a new chapter. Jack relocated to Scaly Mountain, NC, where he embraced a different pace of life. Immersed in the beauty of the mountains, he found great joy in farming and tending to his beloved donkeys. The simplicity of rural living brought Jack contentment, and he made countless memories among the rolling hills and tranquil pastures.

He will be remembered with love and admiration by those closest to him. Jack’s legacy endures in his children: sons Jacob of North Augusta, Justin of Aiken, Jim (Nikki) Parrish of Aiken, and daughter Jennifer (Jon) Robinson of Columbia, SC. Jack was a grandfather to Allison Marie Parrish, Dustin Patrick Parrish, Sarah Michelle Parrish, Karlie Anne Parrish, Katie Lynn Parrish, Wilson Joel Parrish, Jesse Weston Parrish, Jiliann Lee Parrish, Jonathan McLean Robinson, Jr., Lucille Parrish Robinson, Mary Lancaster Robinson. He was also blessed to see his family grow to the next generation with his great-grandchildren, Camden Manders and Waylon Parrish.

He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Thomas (David) of Bamberg, SC and Jean Odom of Elko, SC.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jack’s life at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home in Aiken on Friday afternoon, August 14th. Visitation will be held from 2 until 3 o’clock. The funeral service will follow at 3 o’clock with The Rev. Troy Murphy officiating.
