Henry Laverne Oswald

AIKEN, SC – HENRY LAVERNE “VERNIE” OSWALD, 79, beloved husband of Helen “Rhea” Lask Oswald, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022 at his residence.

A native of Salley, SC, Vernie was a son of the late Henry J. and Margie Sharpe Oswald.  He was a lifelong resident of Aiken County and was a retired HVAC technician.  Vernie was a charter member of Solid Rock Baptist Church and was a former deacon.  He was known as “Henry the Handyman”.  He loved hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 59 ½ years, Helen; his son, Henry Andy Oswald (Sharon), Aiken; his daughter, Marcy Oswald Blue (Jason), Pelham, AL; four grandchildren, Emilee Powell (Zack), Elizabeth Blue, Brittney Blue, Gregory Blue, all of Pelham, AL; a great-grandson due July 25^th, Jase Henry Powell; his brother, Carlton “Cocky” Oswald (Kim), Lexington, SC; a niece, Madison V. Oswald, Lexington, SC.

The family will receive friends Monday afternoon, July 18^th beginning at 1 o’clock at Solid Rock Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 2 o’clock in the church with his cousin, The Rev. Milford Oswald officiating.  Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of choice or Solid Rock Baptist Church.
