Henry Edward Hair

HENRY EDWARD HAIR, 78, beloved husband of Shirley Redmond Hair, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 in Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

Born in Edgefield, SC, Mr. Hair was the son of the late Keith W. and Willie Mae Reed Harris. He was a lifelong Aiken County resident. After graduating from Aiken High School, Mr. Hair enlisted in the US Navy. Upon leaving the Navy he attended Mars Hill, later receiving a master’s in education from the University of SC. He was a “founding teacher” at Silver Bluff High School and became the head of the math department. He and his wife Shirley were active members of St. Gerard’s Catholic Church. Mr. Hair loved to cook for his family, travel, and fish.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Redmond Hair; stepchildren, Terry (Orla) Moore, Sligo, Ireland, Diane “Dee Dee” Moore, Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren, Fionn and Isobel Moore; siblings, Donna (Andy) Lowe, New Ellenton, SC, Markeita (Tony) Barnette, Edgefield, SC, Terry (Denise) Hair, New Ellenton; brother and sisters-in-law, Louise (Eddie) Smith, Lois Whelehon, Nancy (Butch) Spray and Charles “Mickey” Redmond all of Farmington, MO.

The Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the old St. Mary’s Help of Christians Church on Park Avenue. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 PM at SHELLHOUSE-RIVERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 715 E. PINE LOG RD., AIKEN, SC 29803
