Aiken – Ms. Hazel Marie Schlagenhauf, 76, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023.
Hazel was born in Bluffton, IN, a daughter of the late Joe and Mary Thompson Schlagenhauf. She was a former employee with Bradley Plumbing and Heating, and long-time member of Aiken’s First Baptist Church. She was a most gentle and sweet-natured person, loved to sew, cook, and keep things neat and tidy. An extremely gracious and intelligent person with a wonderful sense of humor, she loved her family dearly, and never met a baby she did not love.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Ashley E. Oxendine, Aiken; sister, Sandra Sue Powers, Gastonia, NC; brother, Johnny Joe Schlagenhauf, Dallas, NC; brother-in-law, Don Cline, Greensboro, NC; niece, Whitney Aubrey; nephew, Hayes Powers; and great niece, Mary Grace Aubrey.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM, and the memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 23, 2023, in the Shellhouse Funeral Home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org)
