Hazel Ann Kendrick Poston

Hazel “Ann” Kendrick Poston passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 8, 2026 in Worcester, MA after attending her first granddaughter’s wedding. The wedding was deliberately held on July 3rd, which is her birthday. She was ecstatic that she was able to attend. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Ann spent her childhood in New Ellenton before moving to Aiken in the late 1970s.

She is survived by her husband, Carl Poston; her children, Jennifer Poston Tyler of New Ellenton, SC, and Kristy (Michael) Yaun of Aiken, SC; and her cherished grandchildren, Ashleigh (Josh) Marin, Worcester, MA, Kaytlin (Aubrey) Newton, Jackson, SC, Justin Golson, Christian Yaun, Kaileb (Mallory Reid) Tyler, Evan Yaun, Jaethan Tyler, Kinley Tyler, and Legaci Tyler. She was a proud great-grandmother to two-year-old Kasara Tyler and eagerly awaited the birth of Baby A. Newton in December 2026.

Ann's mother, Barbara Hall Kendrick of Aiken and siblings; Janice (Ed) Heuck of Hilton Head, Karen (Rusty) Hutson of Williston, Gary (Tammy) Kendrick of Columbia, and close cousin Jackie Kendrick of Bluffton survive her, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a vast extended family.

Ann was preceded in death by her father, Lowell Ray Kendrick and grandparents Manning Jonathan Hall and Hazel Josephine Hall and John and Kelsie Kendrick.

Ann loved Jesus, America, and Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang.

Member since childhood of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church, she was currently attending Talatha Baptist Church where she made many close friends that she loved dearly.

She was employed at Greendale Elementary in New Ellenton as the Library/Media Aide to her good friend Priscilla Summerford. This school year would have been her 3rd year there. She was formerly employed with Aiken County Schools a few years ago before leaving to work for Hibbitts Drug Company. Ann previously worked a couple decades for Dr. Howard Gil Royal whom she loved dearly along with his wife, Jane Anne.

Everyone that met her was either an instant friend or instant honorary child, grandchild or family member. She was affectionately called Mama or Nana Ann and she loved it! She loved big and gave even bigger. She had the biggest heart and if you knew her, there was no doubt the type of loving, amazing, sweet, Christian woman she was.

Always down for anything; whether it was shopping, thrifting, flying, traveling, dinner…you name it, she was ready to go go go!

Ann always said she didn’t want a fancy funeral because she “wouldn’t know the difference” because she’d “already be in the presence of the Lord”. So, we ask that, if possible, everyone attending please refrain from wearing black because she very seldomly wore black and was always finding the best deals on the sparkliest things. Please wear a Christian shirt, red, white, and blue, or a Snoopy shirt. She would love that so much!

The funeral will be held from the graveside in Southlawn Cemetery, Thursday morning, July16th at 11 o’clock with The Revs. Jordan Bird and Dr. Edward Ildefonso, Jr. officiating. The family will greet friends in the cemetery following the service.
