Today December 12, 2025 George William Sargent, Sr., passed from this life into Life Eternal in Jesus Christ.

George was born in Los Angeles, California on February 11, 1941 to George William Sargent and Ann Lou Itson Sargent. George was married for forty-two years to Sandra Lee Chambers Sargent (Deceased). He is survived by his wife Patricia Fay King Sargent, his children Lynnett E. Ivy (Rodney), Lexington, TN, George W. Sargent III, Corona, CA, Michael A. Sargent (Karen), Adrian, MI, Steven L. Sargent, (Deceased). Special daughter-in-law Yolanda Abraham (Chris), Yorba Linda, CA., his grandson Michael Sargent (Pamela) Ladrea Heights, CA., and step-children Melissa L. Bono, San Diego, CA and Nicholas E. King (Fiancée Jessica D. Elliott), N. Augusta, SC. George, also known as Poppy, had a special relationship with his grandson Weston Eric King. George enjoyed having a large extended family; Seven grandchildren and Fourteen Great-grandchildren.

George was raised in the South Bay of the Los Angeles Basin and graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1958. George enlisted in the Air Force in 1959 and spent eight and one half years in service, rising to the rank of (E-6) Technical Sergeant.

On August 3, 2001 George married his beloved wife Patricia Fay King Sargent. In 2004, they moved to Aiken, SC for his work at the Savannah River Nuclear Facility, where he designed Machines and Mechanisms for the MOX Project for 14 years. George retired in November 2018.

George will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, and has experienced his humor and friendship.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, December 17th from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.

A private graveside service will be held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or a charity of your choice.

Right now George stands in the light of Gods Glory, surrounded by everlasting love and unspeakable Joy!

George’s family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Gerald Gordon and Dr. William Durrett for the many years devoted to his wellbeing. We would like to also thank the staff of Gentiva Hospice for the loving care they gave George right up to the day he entered Heaven.
