Francis Skelton Ogilvie

FRANCIS SKELTON OGILVIE, 92, beloved husband of Christel Gerlach Ogilvie, passed away Wednesday morning, June 21, 2023 in Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

Born in Astoria, NY, Francis was a son of the late Eric Francis and Ethel Coulter Ogilvie.  He grew up in East Norwich, Long Island. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War.  He lived most of his life on Long Island, first working with Northrop Grumman and retiring from Brookhaven National Lab.  After retirement he and Christel lived on Martha’s Vinyard for 20 years, before moving to the Cedar Creek Community in Aiken in 2007.  Francis loved sailing his boat “Delphine” on Long Island Sound, and he loved golf.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 63 years, Christel, are his nephews, Alexander Ogilvie (Alicia), Christopher Ogilvie (Loan) Bernd Wewelsiep; great-nephew and nieces, Eric, Katie and An; sister-in-law, Patricia Ogilvie.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ian Lincoln Ogilvie.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
