Frances Fielding Freed Weeks, fondly known as Fran, passed away peacefully in her home in Aiken, South Carolina on April 18, 2026, Born April 10, 1941, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Fran lived a life marked by grace, tenacity, and a deep devotion to family and friends.

Fran was an exemplary woman who embraced life's challenges with courage and determination. She battled health difficulties valiantly, embodying the powerful lesson that "When the going gets tough, you get tough." Her enduring spirit was an inspiration to all who knew her.

A graduate of Goldey-Beacom College of Business, Fran devoted many years to her career in the insurance industry. Together with her husband, Harry Odell Weeks Jr., affectionately called Spooky, she made significant contributions to their business. Following her retirement, she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to caring for her first grandchild, Gray.

Fran’s pride as a grandmother was evident in every aspect of her life. She was the devoted “Mimi” to her granddaughters, Gray Johnson and Rebekah Weeks-Campbell. The adventures they shared—from water yoga, library visits, tea and bridge club outings with Gray, to movies, dining, knitting, and playing board games with Rebekah—were cherished moments that highlighted her loving nature and zest for life.

Known for her warmth and generosity, Fran possessed a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued. She never met a stranger, showing respect and acceptance to all. Her thoughtful spirit was reflected in her attention to others’ preferences and needs, and she was always ready with a heartfelt “thank you,” expressing genuine appreciation for the kindness extended to her.

As a mother, Fran was unwavering in her support and encouragement. She did “all the things.” She was lovingly devoted to her daughters—Paige Weeks Johnson and the late Allison Weeks—cheering them on through school work, church activities, Girl Scouts, cheerleading, basketball, or anything else the girls were interested in. She was the embodiment of motherhood, participating fully in her daughters’ lives with a smile and open heart.

Fran’s love extended beyond family to her treasured friends, who provided mutual support and companionship, especially during the past five challenging years. Their shared respect and enjoyment of life created a strong bond that was a source of comfort and delight. She appreciated her friends picking her up for lunch outings and meetings of the Pine Needle Garden Club.

She was also a passionate hostess who delighted in entertaining. Fran took great pride in setting beautiful tables, often preparing weeks in advance for holidays and the beloved “supper clubs” she would host. She lovingly taught her daughters the art of hospitality, showing them how to set and clear the table and engage meaningfully with guests. They thought this was super cool and they loved to dress up and participate!

Fran’s interests were many and varied. She enjoyed shopping for unique items, attending local events, traveling the world, exploring diverse cuisines, learning new things, spending quality time with family and friends, and reading. These pursuits enriched her life and demonstrated her curiosity and zest for living.

Her enduring quality of life in recent years was greatly aided by exceptional medical care and the dedication of caregivers from Daybreak Services, including Janelle, Mattie, Bernice, Anna, Sherria, Mary, Nicole, and many others.

Special gratitude is extended to Dr. Gerald Gordon, whose expert care saved her life multiple times, allowing Fran to witness cherished milestones, including the marriages of her granddaughters and to take a final family cruise in 2023 with her beloved Spooky and the family. We are grateful to his many staff over the years. Dawn, Elizabeth, and Mary were there for the last year or so and tirelessly cared for her, answering her questions and treating her. They were exceptionally kind and true professionals.

Trinity Home health held the line at home. They treated her so kindly and with such professionalism. Again, she had many nurses over the years but a special thanks to Courtney and Faith. All of them were awesome and you know who you are.

Fran’s legacy is one of love, resilience, kindness, and fun. We laughed loudly and often. At times we would laugh until we cried. That is joy!

She is survived by her devoted husband, Harry Odell Weeks Jr. (Spooky); her daughter, Paige Weeks Johnson and her spouse Todd; granddaughters Gray Johnson and her spouse Reed, and Rebekah Weeks-Campbell and her spouse Curtis; in-laws Jane and Scott Anderson; and many nieces and nephews who carry forward her memory.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Allison Weeks, her parents Mary Frances and Walter Freed, her brother Wayne Freed, and her nephew Thackston Freed.

Frances Weeks will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was a testament to love, strength, and unwavering commitment to family and friends. She truly was the epitome of grace. May her memory be a blessing to all who loved her. She had a life well lived that she appreciated. She will be missed!
