Flossie Marie Hagerman Payne, a devoted mother, beloved wife, and faithful servant of God, passed away unexpectedly on April 28, 2026, in Aiken, South Carolina. Born on October 17, 1938, in Jolo, West Virginia, to Ulyss and Fannie Cooper Hagerman, Flossie led a life marked by dedication, love, and service.
She formerly worked as a home health aide in the Batesburg-Leesville area, demonstrating compassion and care for those in need, and was a devoted homemaker.
Flossie was an active and cherished member of the New Holland Pentecostal Holiness Church. Her commitment to her faith was evident not only in her active membership but also in her service as a former children's Sunday School teacher. Her role as a devoted pastor's wife stood as one of her proudest accomplishments, reflecting her unwavering support and partnership.
She is survived by her daughter, Rose Marie Layton, and her husband, Mark, of Aiken, South Carolina; her brother, Crocket Hagerman, (Helga Connelly) of Beaufort, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Maxine (Hobert) Hagerman Argabright and Clarice (Curtis) Hagerman, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.
Flossie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, The Reverend Troy Clinton Payne; her parents, Ulyss and Fannie Cooper Hagerman; her sisters, Thelma Blankenship and Dorothy Campbell; and her brothers, Hobert Hagerman and Curtis Hagerman.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, May 1st from 6 until 8 o'clock at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home.
Visitation will continue Saturday morning, May 2nd beginning at 11 o'clock at New Holland Pentecostal Holiness Church, 917 J. B. Swartz Road, Wagener, SC.
Her funeral service will follow, at 11:30 AM at the church. Entombment will be in Woodridge Memorial Park Mausoleum, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC, at approximately 1:15 PM.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the church.
