Aiken – Mrs. Florence Stephens McCoy, 94, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022. Mrs. McCoy was born in Anderson, SC a daughter of the late David Fred and Macie Edmunds Stephens. She received her bachelor’s degree from Furman University and taught in public and private schools for 27 years. She was a member of the Graniteville Leisure Years Club, and was a past member of the Trenton Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of American Revolution in Aiken, SC. She was active in the Society for many years. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, and a former teacher of the ladies Faith and Comfort class. She was a former member of the sanctuary choir, and was a former volunteer in the church office. She was a member of the Truth Seekers Sunday Class. She is survived by her daughters, Macie Kimball McCoy, Aiken, and Stephenie McCoy (Van) Hewett, Cross Hill, SC; grandchildren, John Phillip (Carly) Hewett, and Greta Hewett (Justin) Greene; great grandchildren, Ella Kate Greene, Easton McCoy Greene, and Ashlyn Grace Hewett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Brown McCoy, Jr., and a brother, William A. Stephens. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 8, 2022, in Bethany Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. John Carroll officiating. The family will receive friends for a brief period following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 3157, Aiken, SC 29802.
