Elizabeth Ann Hyslop

Betty Ann Hyslop, 97, of Aiken, SC, died at her home on March 28, 2026.

She was born July 28, 1928, in Osceola Mills, PA, to Jonathan S and Margaret (Wayne) Perks. She graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1946 and was employed in the Agricultural School at Penn State University.

On March 31, 1951, she married William Hyslop of State College and moved with him to Iowa. They subsequently lived in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Texas before settling in Aiken in 2003. He preceded her in death in 2008.

In her younger years, she taught ceramics; later she worked at her church and then in real estate and accounting offices. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, and especially gardening. On any given day, she could be found outside tending her flowers.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Linda (Larry) Last of MI, Barbara Karahalios of FL, and Betsy (Steve) Bowyer of CA. Also 4 grandchildren, Greg Last of FL, Katie Roach of MN, Matt Bowyer of CA, and Kevin Bowyer of TX. Grandson Brian Karahalios preceded her in death in 2023. She leaves 8 great-grandchildren and her sister, Rose Marie (Ward) Whitehill of Pleasant Gap, PA.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Gerard Catholic Church, Aiken, at a later date, with burial in St John Catholic Cemetery, Bellefonte, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made to St Gerard Catholic Church or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
