Elenore Erika Holz Herz

Erika Herz, age 83, beloved wife of 62 years to the late Bill Herz, was reunited with her earthly sweetheart and her heavenly Savior on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at her home surrounded by family. Bill most likely greeted Erika at the heavenly gates with open arms, with their son Billy beside him.

Born in Manhattan, NY, on April 9, 1942, to the late Hugo and Alma Holz, Erika graduated from Clara Barton High School. She retired from Prudential after 22 years and throughout her life was a talented hairdresser, devoted mother and housewife, gifted oil painter, and fabulous quilter.

Erika faithfully served as a 2-term Deacon at Pompton Reformed Church, volunteered with the Pompton Lakes Board of Health, and was an active member of the Pompton Lakes Historic Committee, Brownstone Guild Quilters, West Milford Heritage Quilters, and several other community groups.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Bill Herz, and their son, Billy Hertz. Erika is survived by her children Chris Herz (Wife Kim) and Jennifer Benson (Husband Keith); five grandchildren — Matt Kelly, Stephanie Kelly, Nathaniel Herz, Sarah Benson, and Katie Herz; and four great-grandchildren — Troy and Aurora Kelly, Dalton and Damon Mueller.

A memorial service will be held at Pompton Reformed Church, Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, Saturday, October 18th at 1:00 p.m.
