Elaine G. Profit

Elaine Gilbert Profit, 80, passed away on October 1, 2026, at her home in Aiken, South Carolina, surrounded by family and friends.

She was born on September 21, 1946, in Belle Rose, Louisiana, to the late Thomas Bryan Gilbert and Gladys (Dowda) Gilbert.

Elaine earned a degree in education from Louisiana State University. During her professional career, she worked in education and devoted herself to volunteer service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fairport, New York, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent.

Following her retirement and move to Aiken, Elaine continued her commitment to serving others. She volunteered with Christ Central food bank, the Aiken County Historical Museum, the Red Cross, and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed making quilts and blankets for her family and loved ones.

In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her sister, Diane Gilbert Tureaud.

She is survived by her husband, Samuel Ernest “Bud” Profit, Jr.; her sons, Thomas Profit of Los Angeles, California, and Matthew Profit and his wife, Renee, of Columbus, Ohio; and her three grandchildren, Alec, Faith, and Madison, all of Columbus, Ohio.

The funeral service will be Friday morning, October 9th at 10 o'clock at St. Paul Lutheran Church with The Rev. Jeff Erbskorn officiating. Inurnment will be in the church's columbarium. The family will receive friends following the service in the church's gathering area. The service will be livestreamed at (https://www.stpaullc.net/online-worship).
