AIKEN, SC - Edward Vincent "Vince" Wheeler, known to many simply as Vince, was born on September 25, 1956, in Los Angeles, California. He passed away on January 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, adventure, and the joy of living life to the fullest.
Vince enjoyed the great outdoors, spending countless moments camping with family and close friends. Fishing was another cherished pastime, whether it was with his children or alone, where he found peace and solace in nature's embrace. In recent years, one of his most rewarding experiences was riding his motorcycle in the mountains with some of his best friends, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
He was well known for his love of food, especially the grilled and smoked dishes he prepared for gatherings. Weekends were often filled with cookouts by the pool, where Vince thrived on the laughter and companionship of his friends and family. These moments made life truly special for him.
Vince was also a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps. Over the last six years of his life, he bravely battled Oral Cancer and went through numerous reconstructive surgeries, facing every challenge with incredible courage and determination. Throughout this difficult journey, he was always surrounded by love and support from his family.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria (Vicki) Wheeler, with whom he shared 40 wonderful years. Vince is also survived by his sons, Tony Wheeler of Florida and Andrew (Shannon) Wheeler of Texas, and his daughter, Elyse Wheeler of South Carolina. He took immense pride in being a loving grandfather to ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is remembered fondly by his brother, Michael Wheeler of New Mexico, and his sister, Hellen (Terry) of Texas. His family circle also included brother-in-law, Douglas (Kim) Petrie from Portugal, and sister-in-law, Judith (Michael) Petrie from South Carolina, in addition to many beloved nieces and nephews.
Vince was predeceased by his stepson, Christopher Pearson of North Carolina, as well as his parents, Glen and Brenda Wheeler of Texas, and his mother-in-law, Ruth Petrie of North Carolina.
A memorial service to celebrate Vince's life will be held on January 31, 2026, at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home, Inc. 715 E. Pine Log Rd. The service will begin at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends following the service at the family home.
