Surrounded by her loved ones, Dorothy “Dottie” Scott was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on May 28, 2025. A life defined by service, Dottie was a devoted wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother, faithful friend, and a dedicated member of her church family at Talatha Baptist Church. She studied the Bible daily and lived in steadfast devotion to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
In 1958, Dottie married the love of her life, Robert L. Scott, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Together, they raised a family and moved across several states. No matter where life took them—from farmsteads to new cities—Dottie had a remarkable gift for making every place feel like home.
A proud homemaker, she found great joy in caring for her family and managing their household, with her loving touch evident in every well-kept corner. Dottie brought beauty and order to all aspects of life. She was a trained beautician, a skilled gardener, and a gifted home decorator. For many years, she volunteered at Christ Central Ministries in Aiken, South Carolina, where she used her gifts to create thoughtful organization systems for donations. She also dedicated much time to tending her yard, transforming it into a peaceful and beautiful retreat.
She is lovingly remembered by her three children, Deborah Birmingham (Jon), Sherry Scott (MK) and Rob Scott (Dasha); her six grandchildren, Jamie Coomes (Holly), Justin Coomes, John Coomes (Randi), Adam Scott (Lacy), Ashley Porchetta (Joey), and Austin Coomes (Anna); her fifteen great-grandchildren, Hayden, Dylan, Jackson, Jamie Jr, Ryder, Kylee, Harleigh, Paisleigh, Nevaeh, Saylor, John, Bowen, Goldie, Sawyer and Caroline.
Dottie joins in eternal rest with her parents, George Albert Dale and Tessie McKnight Dale and her husband of 65 years, Robert L. Scott.
The family will receive friends Monday morning, June 2nd beginning at 10 o'clock at Talatha Baptist Church.
The funeral service will follow at 11 o'clock with The Revs. Jordan Bird and Trevor Burrows officiating. Interment will be in Southlawn Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
