GRANITEVILLE, SC - Dora V. Shellhouse, born in Bim, West Virginia, on March 12, 1931, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was the daughter of Ruby and Nollie Vickers of Madison, West Virginia, and was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles L. Shellhouse; her parents; and several siblings and in-laws.
Dora was a devoted homemaker and a woman of deep faith. She met her husband in 1950 while studying nursing and soon became a proud South Carolina resident. She was a longtime member of Sweetwater Baptist Church in North Augusta, SC, where she found joy in her faith and in the fellowship of her church family—especially the wonderful group of ladies in her Sunday School class. Previously, she was a member of Aiken’s First Baptist Church and Shaws Fork Baptist Church. Dora loved the Lord, cherished her family near and far, and found joy in cooking, cleaning, and caring for others.
Dora is survived by her loving daughter, Alice S. Lowe, and was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Harry H. Lowe, Jr. She leaves behind her grandchildren: Kimberly (Michael) Williamson, Ashley (Tom) Wilder, and Charles (Emerson) Lowe; great-grandchildren: Chance Williamson, Tucker Williamson, Madison (Seth) May, and Joey Lowe; and one great-great-grandchild, R.J. May. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will remember her with love and admiration.
She was preceded in death by siblings and in-laws, including Paul & Virginia Runyon, Alfred & Mary V. Miller, Robert & Florine Shellhouse, Woody & Elizabeth Scott, Jim & Frances Epps, and Jimmy & Kathleen Matthews. Her nephew, Al Miller, also preceded her in death.
