Donald Kimbrell

AIKEN, SC – Mr. Donald “Mr. Fixit” Kimbrell, 79, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020.

Don was born in Sheffield, AL to Elmer and Audrey Kimbrell. He is one of four brothers: Jimmy (Bette) Kimbrell, Rogers (Joanne) Kimbrell, and the late Raymond (Barbara) Kimbrell.

From an early age, Don never met a stranger, and if anyone were to ever encounter him, his quick wit would soon charm them over and leave them with a lasting impression. Also, from an early age, Don learned a lifelong skill where he could fix anything. His love of fixing things and tinkering with them led him to a career as a welder. Don enjoyed many activities while “riding” through life. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, gardening, flying airplanes, riding motorcycles, spoiling his precious pets, and being with his wife, Becky. He loved his family dearly. During his last year, Don enjoyed participating in Bible Studies, and he made the important decision of rededicating his life to Christ. 

He was preceded in death by parents, Elmer and Audrey; brother, Raymond; and wife, Becky.

Survivors include daughters, Donnell Loney; Vickie (Tracy) Brown, Monica (Paul) Davis and son, Chad (Candace) Kimbrell; grandchildren, Kary Loney, Trey (Curry) Brown, Halie (Chad) Miller, Travis Brown, Katie Brown, Lexi Kimbrell, Jonathan Paul (JP) Davis and Laura Elizabeth (LB) Davis; great-grandchildren, Harley Miller and Whitley Miller; brothers, Jimmy (Bette) Kimbrell and Rogers (Joanne) Kimbrell;  and many nephews and nieces that cherished him dearly.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Hitchcock Place Assisted Living and Regency Hospice for the care that was provided to Don.

Due to COVID-19, the family plans to host a celebration of life at a later date when it is safe to have one.
