Delmar LeRoy Vogel passed away peacefully on October 12, 2026, at his home in Aiken, South Carolina.
Del was born in 1939, in Corsica, South Dakota to Martin and Wilma Vogel. At the age of eight, he moved with his family to Randolph, Wisconsin, where he spent much of his childhood.

Delmar also had a love for baseball, and the game stayed with him throughout his life. He was also known for his sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh. His talent for public speaking earned him recognition during his junior and senior years of high school, where he made it to the finals of state competitions at the University of Wisconsin, with his humorous declarations, “The Raft” and “Washington Slept Here,” which placed him among the top contestants.
After graduating from high school, Delmar enlisted in the Army at just 17 years old. He spent seven months at Fort Leonard Wood before being stationed in Germany. While serving, he worked as a driver for General Townsend, a position that allowed him to travel through Europe including England, France, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and Holland, places many people only dream of visiting. He was a sharpshooter rifle/pistol Honaorable Badge marksman. Was with Mary's brother in local bar in Germany where Elvis Presley was being filmed!
In the summer of 1961, Delmar married his beloved wife, Mary. He enrolled at Milton State College in Milton, Wisconsin, where he studied economics and accounting, and continued playing baseball. It is there that he was awarded two varsity letters in baseball.
On 1962, Delmar and Mary’s son, Randy was born. Delmar made the difficult decision to leave Milton College so he could provide for his growing family which in 1967 included his daughter, Sherri.
Delmar was never afraid of hard work. Before and after his schooling, he took on whatever work was necessary to make ends meet. When his professional career in finance began, he quickly advanced through several positions before moving into management. He worked for HFC-Household International for majority of career.
Delmar and Mary moved to Aiken, SC in 1991. Del served on Woodside Plantation 1st POA Board. He was a member of Cowden Preserve where he loved to hunt. He was part of the Vets program to which he took disabled Vets children hunting.
