AIKEN, SC – DAVID BLAND HERLONG, 61, beloved husband of Carolyn Vinson Barton Herlong, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, April 3, 2022.
A native of the Harmony Community near Johnston, SC, David was a son of the late William Mack and Ida Williams Herlong. He grew up in the Harmony Community and lived most of his adult life in Aiken. He was the owner of Southeastern Mobile Home Repair. He loved golfing, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren at his lake house at Plum Branch Yacht Club. He was a member of Cedar Creek Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Carolyn, include five children, William Freeman “Bart” Barton (Alice), Aiken, Robert Edward “Eddie” Barton (Breanna), Aiken, David Bland “Dave” Herlong, Jr. (Jenny), Johnston, Michael Christopher “Chris” Barton, Aiken, Mary Alison “Ali” Guy (Nathan), St. Augustine, FL; thirteen grandchildren, Calei and Jillie Barton, Jackson, Spencer and Nash Barton, Kaytie, Weston and Naomi Herlong, Tucker and Kendall Mims, Christian, Will and Aaron Barton; two brothers, Rev. Edward Herlong (Betty), Darlington, SC, Douglas Herlong (Connie), Johnston, SC; two sisters, Cindy Herlong and Joan Herlong, both of Johnson, SC and his beloved schnauzer Ike.
The family will receive friends Friday afternoon, April 8th from 1 until 2 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 o’clock with The Rev. Phillip Lee officiating. Interment will be at 4 o’clock in Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery, Johnston, SC with his nephew, The Rev. Douglas Herlong officiating.
