David Guthrie

AIKEN, SC – BYRON DAVID GUTHRIE, 78, beloved husband of Ruby Lynn Guthrie, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at his residence. A native of Clinton County, KY, David was a son of the late Byron Alexander and Edna Hazel Aaron Guthrie. He began his career as a boilermaker with the National Transit Lodge Local 5555 in Kansas City, KS. Most of his career was spent working with Nooter Construction at various sites all over the United States. David moved to Aiken County in 1974. He was an avid woodworker and loved refinishing furniture. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ruby; his son, Byron D. Guthrie, Jr. (Connie), Aiken; four grandchildren, Casey Wade (Chris), Lauren Brock, Alex Guthrie, Aiden Guthrie; a sister, Barbara Goins (Curtis), Chattanooga, TN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Frances Ann Guthrie. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 29th a Noon at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends following the service.
