Daniel Claude Gwinn

February 3, 1954 — April 4, 2022

On a clear, sunny day, Danny Gwinn (68) passed away unexpectedly from complications of leukemia on April 4, 2022 at his home in Aiken, South Carolina.

Danny was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  He was a 1972 graduate of Dorman High School and attended Asheville-Buncombe Tech Community College where he studied Culinary Arts. Danny was a former employee of the Steeple Drive-In on West Main Street. He successfully owned several restaurants in the Spartanburg area to include Lyman, Woodruff and Boiling Springs. He enjoyed serving his customers and ensuring they got a good meal at a fair price.

Danny was pre-deceased by his parents, Grover Gwinn and Elizabeth Gwinn, and his wife, Tina Botts Gwinn. He is survived by his pet cat, Pretty Boy, who brought Danny much companionship and comfort. His last wish was that a good home be found for Pretty Boy.

Danny always enjoyed being a part of Tina’s family. He dearly loved his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Larry Snyder, and their son, Spencer, of Aiken. Larry and Judy were Danny’s last relatives.  He always said how much he appreciated all they did for him. Danny had two friends (Denise and Ron Neighbors) whom he spoke with daily.  He would visit them in Columbia every Saturday. Denise always made sure Danny received a good meal or went to the restaurant of his choosing.  If Danny mentioned that he needed new shirts, pants, or shoes, she was quick to shop and purchase them for him.  Danny and Ron were friends since their teen-age years. Their conversations would run the gambit from their time working at a restaurant, reminiscing about friends, trips they took over the years, or whichever sporting event came to mind.  Danny’s humor and friendship will truly be missed.

Shellhouse Rivers Funeral Home in Aiken is handling the cremation arrangements.
