Cynthia Kay Padgett

CYNTHIA KAY PADGETT, 72, widow of Carl Thomas “Tommy” Padgett, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, November 25, 2025 in her home.

A lifelong resident of Aiken, Cynthia was a daughter of the late Raymond, Sr., and Jessie Heath Marks. She dedicated her career to education, serving as a librarian at Millbrook Elementary School within Aiken County Public Schools until her retirement. Her passion for nurturing young minds was complemented by her involvement in her community as a longtime member of Lakeside Baptist Church, where she uplifted many through her participation in the choir and working with her husband in gospel outreach.

Surviving are two sons, Guy Padgett (Sharon) and Chris Padgett (Jamie), all of Aiken, and two granddaughters, Amber and Rachel Padgett. Cynthia was preceded in death by her beloved husband Tommy Padgett, her brother Raymond Marks, Jr. and parents.

The family will welcome friends on Friday afternoon, November 28th, starting at 4 o'clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 5 o'clock, officiated by her pastor, The Rev. Tad Marshall. Private interment will take place at Talatha Baptist Church Cemetery.
