Constance Ann (Connie) and Richard J. (Dick) Valeri, passed away three hours apart, Saturday, March 30, 2024 at their residence.

Connie was born in Syracuse, NY on May 4, 1937. The daughter of John “Jack” and Constance (Prusinowski) Harrigan. Connie received her Montessori Certification from the Montessori Teacher’s Institute in Syracuse, NY. Connie also earned a BS degree as a Child Life Specialist from Syracuse University and her MS Degree in Special Education from Mansfield University. Connie’s passions included her love of children as displayed by her long career in education and improving the wellness of children, her love for animals of all kinds, and spending time outdoors enjoying wildlife including bird and squirrel watching, gardening, and traveling to unique and interesting places.

Richard (Dick) was born on November 10,1936, in Trenton, NJ, the son of Giocchino Joachim and Cecelia (Gervasio) Valeri.

When Connie and Dick relocated to Las Cruces, NM, Dick worked for New Mexico State University as a Student Teacher Supervisor for students participating in their student teaching assignments. Their was a marriage that spanned 67 years and as Dick described “They said they were joined at the hip”. Dick’s interest mirrored those of his wife in their love of animals especially Golden Retrievers and spending time outdoors enjoying wildlife, gardening and traveling to unique and interesting places.
