Aiken – Mr. Charles Michael Herbst, 73, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023.
Charles was born in Sturgeon Bay, WI, son of the late Ralph E. and Alvina M. Christoferson Herbst. He had been a resident of Aiken for over 35 years, and was formerly on the Aiken Design and Review Board, and was a longtime member of the Aiken Duplicate Bridge Club. He was also a Nuclear Engineer, having worked as a nuclear designer at the Savannah River Site and numerous other nuclear sites nationwide.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Rapp Herbst; sister, Patti Herbst, Panama City, FL; cousins, Daniel (Kathy) Christoferson, Lou Ann (Alan) Behling, Steve (Audrey Forslund) Christoferson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Sweeney; cousins, Karen Johnson and Kim Christoferson; and Aunt Patsy and Uncle Clyde Christoferson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 16, 2024. in the funeral home chapel, with visitation afterwards. A private interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery.
