Cecil Morgan Etherredge II

Cecil Morgan Etherredge II, 88, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away on July 6, 2026. Born on September 21, 1937, in Dothan, Alabama, Cecil lived a full and vibrant life marked by service, creativity, and a deep devotion to his family and community.

Preceding him in death, Cecil’s parents, Cecil Morgan Etherredge I and Virginia Harby Etherredge, both of Aiken, fostered his lifelong love of the performing arts. He was active with the Aiken Community Playhouse, The Augusta Players, and the Barbershop Quartet Association. As a young man, he performed with The Courtsmen quartet, which released a record in 1960.

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Cecil was a member of the Air Force quartet, The Dukes, and was the winner of the Air Force Worldwide Talent Contest in 1959. He attended The Citadel and later earned a master's degree from the University of Kentucky.

In the early 1960s, Cecil began his career in business at Hudson-Etherredge Insurance Co. in Aiken. In the early 1970s, he moved his family to Bowling Green, Kentucky, where he opened Etherredge Piano and Organ Company. Among his most memorable experiences, Cecil had the honor of tuning Liberace's piano.

An avid sporting sailor, Cecil was a founding member of the POYC in Bowling Green.

Cecil retired in 2015 after 27 years at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, where he worked as a Skilled Trades Instructor. He was one of the original employees of the Georgetown, KY plant and, alongside his best friend Buck Creacy, created the trouble-shooting simulator.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Bryant Etherredge; his children, Clayton Morgan Etherredge, Virginia "Ginger" Etherredge Green, and Holli Ann Reynolds; his grandchildren, Ashlee Morgan Etherredge, Kala Nicole Etherredge, and Andrew David Green; and his siblings, Anna Rebecca Miller (Ronny), Hettye Pacyga (Ray), Cheri Cook (George), and Lygia Tisdale (Henry).

In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by his son, Cecil Morgan Etherredge III, and his brother, Harvey Etheridge (Susie).

Funeral services will be held graveside at 10:00 Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Bethany Cemetery in Aiken, SC.
