Catherine Anne Short

CATHERINE ANNE SHORT, 82, beloved wife of Woodrow J. Short, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, December 4, 2025 just one day shy of her 83rd birthday.

A native of Philadelphia, PA, Catherine was the only child of the late Herman B. and Catherine Rever Haffner.

She worked as a LPN for the geriatric population until she returned to school at age 50 to get her RN license. She volunteered at a pregnancy center and continued to work as a RN in an assisted living facility and did home visits until she retired. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, and baking. She took several mission trips to Guatemala, to support her best friends, who were missionaries there. She had lived in Aiken since 2001 and was an active member of Talatha Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to Woody, her beloved husband of 61 years, are three daughters, Melissa Mills, (David), Kimberly Uccellini (Andrew) and Lisa Konscics (Michael). Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, Justin Mills, Jacob Uccellini, Isabella Uccellini, Tessa Uccellini, Grace Salsbury (Thomas), Naomi Koncsics, Benjamin Koncsics, Lydia Koncsics and Charlotte Koncsics.

A Memorial Service Celebrating Catherine’s Life will be held Friday morning, December 12th at 11 o’clock at Talatha Baptist Church with The Rev. Jordan Bird officiating. Nurses Honors will be provided by the Nurses Honor Guard of South Carolina, Sandhills Chapter. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
