Catherine Ellen Muzzillo

Catherine Ellen (Kay) Muzzillo of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away quietly on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 after a brief illness.

Catherine was born to Edith Mae and James Joseph Walsh on Friday, December 13, 1927. She was the second oldest of nine siblings, raised in a loving but poor family in Lindenhurst, New York.

During World War II, Catherine proudly did her part for the war effort, working as a “Rosie the Riveter” at Liberty Aircraft. After the war, she married James Barcellona, and together they raised five children.

In 1975, Catherine married Joseph H. Muzzillo. They enjoyed 18 years of happiness together until his passing.

Throughout her lifetime, Catherine was an artistic crafter and an exceptional seamstress. No project was ever too big or too small for her to happily tackle. She especially enjoyed creating things for her family and friends, sharing her talents with the love she put into every stitch.

Catherine continued to live independently and remained active with her sewing, creating beautiful pieces for family and friends until shortly before her passing.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph, sisters Edith Dickey, Arlene Cabral, Patricia Monteleone, Anne Marie Donlin, Karen Sue Hancock and brothers James, Kenneth and Dennis Walsh.

Her loving creative spirit lives on through her family - daughters Kathy Lohman (John), Maria (Pixie) Goodman (Rod), Tina Morrison (Rich), Dana Trama (Marc) and son Charles Barcellona (Judy), nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by over 40 nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered for her creativity, independence, perseverance, and the love she so generously shared with those around her. Her family and friends will cherish the many memories and handmade treasures she leaves behind.
