Catherine Marie Hevel

Mrs. Catherine Marie Hevel, 71, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2025.

Cathy was born in Quincy, IL, daughter of the late Robert L. and Bonnie Hamann Campbell.

Cathy is survived by her beloved husband, Stephen D. Hevel; son, Shawn (Tiffany) Hevel, Lancaster, SC. Daughter, Christy H. (William) Waits, Aiken; grandchildren, Benjamin Waits and Bryce (Jara) Hevel; sisters, Terri (Vic) Seybold, Punta Gorda, FL, Jeanne (Mike) O’Connell, Venice, FL, Janet (Dan) Nutt, Quincy, IL; brothers, David (Deb) Campbell, Washington, IL, Mike Campbell, Chesterfield, MO; brother in law, Robert (Peachie) Hevel, sister in law, Kansas City, Irene H. (Ken) Meyers, Hannibal, MO, brother in law, David (Teresa) Hevel in Oregon.

She had many nieces and nephews that she enjoyed spending Christmas with in Quincy, IL. She worked as a secretary at Stanley Consultants. She also had a love of auctions, and because of this, she started working as an auction house clerk. She was a Boy Scout Leader of Troop and Pack 421 at Cedar Creek Church. She was a tax preparer at Jackson Hewlett.

Additionally, she worked as a secretary at State Farm Insurance. She enjoyed watching her grandkids. She enjoyed planning trips to the Library, Museums, Picnics, swimming, and anything fun they wanted to do. She enjoyed watching South Carolina Football and Basketball games because her grandson, Ben Waits, is a Junior and a member of the South Carolina Band. She enjoyed the time with Bryce Hevel, her grandson. She has many treasured art pictures that Bryce Hevel completed. She loved it when he visited and traveled to Quincy, IL, with her and Pops for a Christmas spent with friends and family at Janet and Dan Nutt’s house.

A Celebration of Life for Cathy will be held at 7:00 PM (8/1/25) in the Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Phillip Lee officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Boy Scouts of America (www.scouting.org) or a charity of one’s choice.
