Mrs. Carolyn Ruth Hobbs Miller, age 76, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2026, in Aiken.

Mrs. Miller was born at Fort Knox, Kentucky on September 28, 1949, to the late Lt. Col Wallace Burt Hobbs and Ruth Anna Hewitt Hobbs.

Mrs. Miller was a graduate of Waterford High School in Waterford, Ct. and attended Mitchell College for Accounting and her Broker’s License.

She married Gerald “Jerry” Luben Miller on May 18, 1974, at the Chapel on the Thames at New London/Groton Sub Base. After a tour of duty in Charleston, S.C. Carolyn and Jerry returned to Connecticut, Jerry the Navy and Carolyn to Real Estate.

Carolyn and her husband after his retirement returned to S.C. with horses and raised cattle as well on 300 acres in Abbeville. After eleven years realizing they needed less work and to downsize, they moved to Aiken to 45 acres and 16 horses.

Carolyn became involved with Mayflower, USD 1812, New England Women and the National Society of Daughter’s of the American Revolution. She became the Registrar for N.E.W., USD 1812 and DAR having done horse pedigrees professionally.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband and brother, Richard Hobbs and wife Joy Hobbs of Torrington, Wy and her daughter, Jill Miller LaCount and her husband Kelly LaCount. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tiffany (Richard) Grafen, Brandon (Cassie) Nelson, and Jack LaCount, her great-grandchildren, Cecilia, Reginald and River. Mrs. Miller is also survived by several sister in-laws and brother in-laws on the Miller side.

The family will receive friends Wednesday morning, September 16th beginning at 10 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11 o’clock with the Rev. Grayson “Butch” Blackwell officiating. Burial will be at Southlawn Cemetery on Whiskey Road, following the service.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the SPCA Albrecht Center in memory of Carolyn (letlovelive.org).

The family would like to thank the staff at Barclay House for all their Love and Support during her stay.
