August 24, 1947 — August 26, 2022

Betty Jean Loyd (Pennington) began her journey with her angel wings on August 26, 2022 at the age of 75 in Aiken, SC.

Betty was born August 24, 1947 and preceded in death by her parents, Rev. James Leanord and Frances Loyd of Poplar Bluff, MO. She was the baby of five girls, Lola Catherine, Pat, Wanda, Johnema, and Betty. She is survived by Pat Burton and Wanda Barks.

She is survived by six grandchildren, Radney, Dakota, David Michael, James, and Matthew, and step-grandson Dustin Hayes, as well as three great-grandchildren.

In her spare time, she enjoyed going to casinos, crocheting, and spending time with her family. During her lifetime she shared a lot of her talents with the Boy Scouts of America as a Pack leader and teacher. She enjoyed her work in the medical profession, especially with Dr. James Gieselmann in Poplar Bluff, MO, where she spent most of her life and after retirement, she volunteered at the Montgomery County Hospital in Conroe, TX.

She spent the last year living with her daughter in South Carolina following a massive stroke where she was entertained by her grandchildren, especially Matthew who suffered a TBI and had a bond with her that no one else had.

In memory of Betty Loyd, memorials can be made to any breast cancer organization or to New Passion Church in Augusta, GA.
