AIKEN, SC – BETTY LOUISE DAY, 84, widow of William A. Day, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at University Hospital Summerville, Augusta, GA.
A native and lifelong resident of Aiken County, Betty was a daughter of the late Emanuel C. and Doris Morgan Day. She wore many hats in her life. She was a caregiver and a homemaker. She was lovingly known by her grandchildren as “Grandma”, “Nanny” and “Nina”.
Survivors include three daughters, Pearline Day Smith (Carl), Aiken, Susie Rushton, Ridge Spring, Sally Bledsoe, Lakeland, FL; a son, George Day, Wagener; daughter-in-law, Ann Day, Hardeville, SC; ten grandchildren, Hope Mullins (Gregory), Michael Rushton, Jr., Tammie Bush (Roger), Melissa Cockrell (Aaron), William Bledsoe, II, Whitney Timmerman, William Day, Jr., (Elisha), Christian Day, Christy Day, Mallory Lee (Otis); grandson-in-law, Chris Owens; twenty-three great-grandchildren; a brother, J. C. Day (Sonya), SC; four sisters, Amber Jean Huber (Ken), FL, Frances Kennedy (the late Archie), AZ, Leona Clark (James), Wagener, Linda Mills (Danny) FL; sisters-in-law, Barbara Hutchinson, Aiken, Linda Day, Aiken.
In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by a son, Luther Day; granddaughter, Kimberly Owens; four brothers, Terry, Gilbert, Donald and William Day.
The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon, December 9th beginning at 12:30 PM at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 2 o’clock with The Rev. Danny Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
