Betty T. Blanchard

BETTY TALMADGE TUCKER BLANCHARD, 76, beloved wife of Roy Edward “Eddie” Blanchard, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Augusta, Betty was a daughter of Paul Brown Tucker, Sr. and Elma Earline Royal Tucker. She grew up in Burke County, Georgia. After their marriage on November 11, 1972, Betty moved to Aiken, where she worked side by side with her husband operating the Dinner Bell Restaurant for over 45 years.

Betty’s professional career began as a nurse’s attendant at Gracewood State Hospital before becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Betty served at both the old Aiken Hospital and Aiken Regional Medical Centers, and she also taught Certified Nursing Assistant classes. Her commitment to caring extended to Aiken Nursing Home and, later on, New Ellenton Nursing Home, which transitioned to Carriage Hills Nursing and Rehab Center. Her career continued at Brandon Wylde Retirement Community, and she ultimately worked at the Aiken County and Lexington County Detention Centers. Betty was a devoted member of Aiken’s First Baptist Church.

Together, she and Eddie shared 52 years of marriage. Additional survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Blanchard, Patty Douglas (Tony) and Jennifer Marie Blanchard (Jason); four grandchildren, Summer Matthews (Ethan), Dylan Douglas (Constance), Cheyenne Blanchard and Winston Douglas. She is also survived by three brothers, Paul “Buddy” Brown Tucker, Jr. (Joy), Jasper Royal “Jabo” Tucker and J. R. Tucker. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two brothers, , Winston Tucker and Derrel Tucker.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, July 30th from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be Thursday morning, July 31st at 11 o’clock at the funeral home with The Rev. John Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be D.J. Tucker, Trey Tucker, John Simmons, John Garrison, Wallace Kitchings and Jim Hall.
