August James Vettorino

AIKEN, SC – AUGUST J. VETTORINO, 67, beloved husband of Joyce Gherardi Vettorino, died Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Augusta University Medical Center.      A native of Mt. Vernon, NY, August was a son of the late August and Rose Premuto Vettorino.  He started and ran a successful mechanical contracting company in New York for over 40 years.   Augie developed a horse farm in Aiken in 2003 and was active in the local eventing and jumper shows.  He also competed in marathons and ironman competitions and in recent years developed a passion for flying.  He has spent the last several years between homes in Aiken and Connecticut.       Survivors, in addition to his wife, Joyce, include his son Michael (Alexandria), New Jersey; daughter, Cristen Forma (Joseph) New Hampshire;  granddaughter, Camilla Forma; sister, Joanne Hanig, New York; brother, Anthony Vettorino, New York.      Memorial service to be held in New York.
