Ashley Detwiler Franklin

AIKEN, SC – ASHLEY ELISE FRANKLIN, 31, beloved wife of Christopher Dean Franklin, passed away, suddenly, Wednesday evening, November 2, 2022.
     A native and lifelong resident of Aiken, Ashley was a daughter of James and Christine Bell Detwiler.  She was a 2011 graduate of South Aiken High School.
     Ashley started her life in foster care. The Detwilers were the first family chosen to care for her and soon after adopted her. The family was so amazed at all she was able to overcome. Everything she was told she couldn't do, she proved otherwise and passed every milestone.  She was so gentle and loved to snuggle.  Her little smile is one everyone recalls.
     Shortly after her marriage to Chris Franklin on August 20, 2016, she attended massage therapy school and recieved her license on October 18, 2019.  This was another way she showed her love and generousity as she gave massages for free.
     Ashley will be remembered as having the greatest heart. Her smile made everyone smile. She would do anything for anyone - even a stranger. She loved to help those in need and rarely missed a birthday. She loved animals; especially cats. She had 2 fur babies that she loved more than anything.
     She loved her nephews and nieces more than life itself and she was the most amazing aunt to them. She loved children and they loved her.
     Ashley had a gift for making things beautiful. She was an artist even from a very young age. She carried this gift as she got older learning how to etch glass, make soaps, make paper arts and crafts, stone rugs, and enjoyed using her talents to give to others.  Her generous heart of service and gifting was a blessing to all who were in her life.
     This world was so lucky to have her in it.  Anyone that she met, knows just how sweet and lovely she was. Ashley will sorely be missed and will forever be a part of our hearts.
     Survivors in addition to her husband, Chris, and parents, James and Christine Detwiler, all of Aiken, include her siblings, Alicia Detwiler, Aiken, Nicci Hill (James), Houston, TX, Thomas Detwiler (Caroline), Aiken, Pamela Harmon (Gordon), Harpers Ferry, WV, Jeanine Barker (John), Layton, UT,  Kristopher Bloom, Boise, ID, Troy Detwiler, Logan, Utah, Michelle Fredrickson Whisett, North Carolina.
     A memorial service will be held Monday afternoon, November 7^th at 2 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home with The Rev. Larry Coggins officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
