BEECH ISLAND, SC – On Friday, December 5, 2025, our beloved Ann Marie Lennon, 77, went home to the Lord. She was the devoted wife of her soulmate, Frank Lennon, and the heart of her family.
Ann was born in New York City to Edward and Francis Kershaw and grew up with her sister, Maryellen Frey. Though her family moved often, Ann had a gift for turning every house into a home filled with love. She worked as a bank teller, but her true calling was caring for others. Whether it was her children, her mother, her in-laws, or her friends, Ann gave herself completely to those she loved.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. Raised in the Roman Catholic Church, Ann graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in 1966 and remained a faithful member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Queens, NY. She prayed daily to the Blessed Mother Mary and Padre Pio, drawing strength and comfort from them.
Ann met Frank in 1964, and from the moment they found each other, they were inseparable. Married in 1970, they built a life together filled with love, laughter, and faith. They were blessed with three daughters—Anneke, Julie, and Shannon. Ann’s devotion to Julie during her illness, and the strength she showed after Julie’s passing in 1987, was a testament to her boundless love and resilience.
Her grandchildren—Miranda, Haley, Caitlin, Nicole, Evan, Samantha, and Justin—were the joy of her life, and she recently celebrated the arrival of her first great-grandchild, Jedidiah. Ann never missed a school play, a sporting event, or a chance to cheer them on. She loved watching Despicable Me movies with them, laughing at the Minions, and reminding them that they were the true beat of her heart.
Ann was also a poet and artist, with a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature. She delighted in the squirrels, cardinals, and hummingbirds outside her window. Her humor was legendary—especially when she teased her sons-in-law, Brian and Don, with grocery lists that included items she already had in her pantry.
Ann’s life was a living example of love, faith, and devotion. She touched everyone she met with her kindness, her laughter, and her unwavering care.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Children’s Hospital—causes close to Ann’s heart.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Shellhouse Funeral Home, 924 Hayne Ave., Aiken, SC 29801, with a reception to follow. The date holds special meaning for Ann’s family, as it coincides with the anniversary of her daughter Julie’s passing.
