Betty Hollifield Boone

AIKEN, SC – BETTY HOLLIFIELD BOONE, 84, widow of Edward Boone, Jr., died Thursday, January 12, 2017 at her residence. A native of Marion, NC, Betty was a daughter of the late Garland and Maggie Larman Hollifield.  She lived in Aiken since 1955 and retired from Beechum (Glaxo-Smith Kline).  Betty was a former secretary with the Aiken County School District. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class.  She was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Boone, Raleigh, NC; three sons, James Keith Boone, Dr. Robert Daniel Boone (Nori), David Edward Boone, all of Aiken; three grandchildren, John Edward Boone, Mary Catherine Boone and William Caleb Bradham. The family will receive friends Friday evening, January 13th from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held Saturday afternoon, January 14th followed by a memorial service at 4 o’clock at St. John’s United Methodist Church. The Revs. Dr. Tim McClendon and Nancy Reed will officiate.  Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.  A reception will follow in Ward Hall.Memorial contributions may be directed to Aiken Active Seniors, 690 Medical Park Dr., Aiken, SC 29801.
