Richard Drake Hazen

AIKEN – Mr. Richard Drake Hazen, 58, died Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at his residence.   A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 23, 2016 at South Aiken Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Donnie Bates officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.   Richard was born in Reading, PA. and spent his high school years in Atlanta and then graduating from East Side  High School in Greenville.  He graduated from University of South Carolina where he met the love of his life.  Richard moved to Aiken in 1980 where they raised their three boys. Richard was devoted to his family and the community.  He coached his boys  baseball and basketball and soccer teams, where he invested himself in the lives of many young people in our community.  He further served Aiken County in many ways, including serving on the advisory council and school board.  Richard will always be remembered for his fiery support of his family, their teams, our schools and our community (maybe not as fondly remembered by a referee or two:)!  In his profession, he helped many with his business acumen and capabilities as a Financial Advisor.  As Heaven received a new member today, South Aiken Presbyterian Church celebrates the passing from their congregation to God's Heavenly One!  He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy Lewis Hazen; three sons, Lewis Drake Hazen, Aiken, William Fraser Hazen, Aiken, Davis Walker Hazen, Bluffton, SC; two sisters, Katherine (Phil) Lyles, Piedmont, SC, Barbara H. (Jim) Curl, Salem, SC; and his father, Robert Drake Hazen, Easley, SC.   Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly Richardson Hazen.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Helping Hands, P.O.
