Fred Allen Robison, Jr.

May 24, 1930 — December 20, 2016

AIKEN, SC – FRED A. ROBISON, JR., 86, devoted husband of the late Onita Coston Robison, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at his residence. A native of Huntsville, AL, Fred was a son of the late Fred Allen and Virginia Caroline Dryer Robison. He attended Auburn University prior to moving to Aiken in 1954. He retired from DuPont at the Savannah River Plant after 35 years of service. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was a former member of the Aiken Community Concert Band and performed with the Aiken Community Playhouse. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, woodworking and traveling. Survivors include his daughter, Toni R. Oliphant, Aiken; two great-grandchildren, Haley Altman, Greg Richardson; two sisters, Martha Baas, Daphne, AL and Virginia LePore, Nashville, TN and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Fred was preceded in death by infant daughter, Mitzi; infant son, Dana; two grandsons, Robby and Ryan Altman; a sister, Lynn Steele; his brother, Erskin Robison and son-in-law, John E. Oliphant. In addition to being a devoted and loving husband, he was a supportive and caring father and brother. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon, December 26th beginning at 1 o’clock in the Narthex of St. John’s United Methodist Church followed by the funeral at 2 o’clock. The Rev. Dr. Timothy McClendon officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
