Edwin H Bowers

EDWIN H. BOWERS, son of Richard and Isabelle Bowers of Philadelphia, PA, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016. A native of Philadelphia, PA, he made Aiken, SC home for the past eleven years. A celebration of his life will be held at his Woodside Plantation residence at 216 Winged Elm Circle on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 4 till 8 PM. Edwin graduated from Penn Charter, attended Oberlin College, and was a Green Beret in the Army. His career took him from banking to healthcare data processing, where he was one of the pioneers in the field. He retired from Graduate Health Systems, Philadelphia, PA. Edwin was a member of Mensa, and his interests included photography, golf and tennis. He had a passion for music, which he eagerly shared with family and friends. You could find him playing the piano at Shadow Oaks Nursing Home a few times a month. He especially enjoyed playing bridge with friends and discussing the play. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Joyce, and his children, James Bowers of Gainesville, FL. Joyce Pickering of West Chester, PA. And Cori Bowers of East Stroudsburg, PA. He is the proud grandfather of his four grandchildren, Amy Woodward of Murfreesboro, TN. David Pickering and Alan Pickering of West Chester, PA. and Carolyn Pickering of Secane, PA. He is the uncle of Cody Arenz, of Lincoln, NE. He shall be greatly missed by his family, friends and all the people whose lives he touched during his 82 years.
