Robert "Bob" Eugene Scott

AIKEN - Mr. Robert Eugene "Bob" Scott, 85, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016. Mr. Scott was born in Southard, OK to the late Lemuel Edward and Lola Beatrice Looney Scott. After graduating high school, Mr. Scott attended the University of Tulsa, Tulsa, OK where he majored in Analytical Chemistry. He spent his career working in product development and sales for Spencer Chemical Company (later Gulf Oil Corp.) eventually retiring in 1970. After retirement and moving to Aiken with his family, Mr. Scott farmed peanuts and established S & S Farm Supply in Ridge Spring, SC. He was also the proprietor of Montmorenci Vineyards in Montmorenci, SC. He was a member of several organizations including being the inaugural board member for SC on the National Peanut Board, board member and chairman of the SC Peanut Board, the SC Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service State Committee Member, Aiken County Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee. He was a professional member of the SC Fertilizer and Agrichemical Association, American Chemical Society, SC Farm Bureau, American Wine Society, Tasters Guild International and the SC Specialty Food Association. Mr. Scott was an IPTAY member and was a licensed private pilot. He is survived by a daughter, Jeanne Scott (David) Spaunburgh, Indian Harbor Beach, FL; two sons, Robert E. “Bobby” (Stepheni) Scott, Jr., Aiken, Eddie Scott (Michelle), Aiken; grandchildren, Keeley Scott (Scottie) Dyches, Matthew (Meredith) Spaunburgh, Robyn Scott, Lauren Spaunburgh, Nicholas Spaunburgh and four great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Clara Elaine Sawyer Scott; a sister, Tena Maxine Scott Thomas; brothers, Ellery Allen Scott, Lemuel Edward Scott, Jr. and Louie Buchanan Scott. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cathy Cole officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be private. Pallbearers will be sons, grandsons, Jay Chapin and Richard Miller, Jr. The family is especially grateful to the staff of Anchor Health, Regency Hospice and his caregiver and family friend, Eileen Smith for their compassionate care.
