AIKEN, SC – ORA MAE ALLEN, 84, widow of Luther E. Allen, Jr., died Saturday, November 26, 2016 at her residence.
A native of Horry County, SC, Ora was a daughter of the late Robert and Sally Hardwick Johnson. As a young adult, she worked as a secretary for the FBI in Washington, DC, where she met her future husband. Ora lived in Aiken since 1960 and was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and cooking and always made everyone feel welcome in her home.
Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Harden (Herb); a son, Stephen Allen (Dorothy), all of Aiken; three grandchildren, Sarah Prosser (Zane), Alecia Lea Hardt (Chad), Chad Harden; three great-grandchildren, Blane Prosser, Will Hardt, Maecy Hardt; two sisters, Essie Jenerette, Nichols, SC, Bruce Owens, Mullins, SC; a brother, Leston Johnson, Ft. Walton Beach, FL.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Wednesday afternoon, November 30th at 1 o’clock at the funeral home with The Rev. Chris Masters officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Harden, Zane Prosser, Danny Jenerette, John Harden, Robert Hardt and Tony Craps.
