Gerald Tate Hatcher

AIKEN, SC – GERALD TATE HATCHER, 75, beloved husband of Martha Jean Heath Hatcher, died Monday, November 21, 2016 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Aiken County, Gerald was a son of the late J. B. and Kella Cleo Mundy Hatcher. He was a heavy equipment mechanic retiring from Bechtel at the Savannah River Site. He was a big fan of NASCAR and dirt track racing. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Martha Jean; a daughter, Debra Plunkett (Kevin), North Augusta; a son, Gerald T. “Jerry” Hatcher, Jr., Aiken; four grandchildren, Deanna Gainey, Dustin Plunkett, Devin Brown, Skylar Heath Hatcher; five great-grandchildren and a sister, Mary Kay Dunbar (Wallace), Kitchings Mill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Trent Heath Hatcher. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.
